Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 18, 2026

TL;Brief is designed to be simple and private. We don't have user accounts, we don't track you, and we don't sell data. Here's exactly what happens when you use TL;Brief.

What We Collect

When you use TL;Brief to summarize an article, the following is sent to our server:

That's it. No names, no emails, no accounts, no cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics.

How We Use It

The page text or URL is sent to OpenAI's API to generate your summary. The text is not stored on our servers after the summary is returned. Your IP address is stored temporarily (24 hours) in a counter to enforce the daily free limit, then it expires automatically.

What's Stored on Your Device

Your summary history, favorites, and settings are stored locally on your own device using your browser's built-in storage (localStorage for the mobile app, chrome.storage.local for the Chrome extension). This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us.

Third-Party Services

TL;Brief uses the following third-party services:

Children's Privacy

TL;Brief is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Since we don't have your email, we can't notify you directly — but we'll always keep this page current.
